“I was here for a couple weeks on business with a group. Half the staff were friendly(younger guy, shorter gal, and FD manager with the beautiful nails.) The other staff members weren't as enthusiastic. I liked the environment of the hotel/vibe, the beer taps, popcorn, parking garage, and coin operated laundry priced fairly. The free breakfast was great. The only thing strange was the guy in the suit watching people eat and grab breakfast in the morning like he was a breakfast security guard. Seemed odd for the otherwise cool vibe of the hotel. All in all I really liked this place. Special thanks to the FD manager for helping us to escape the snow storm. We really appreciated the great customer service.”
“BLUF: This is my new favorite Marriott option in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area. This is the first time I’ve stayed at a Fairfield and genuinely felt like I got more than what I paid for. I don’t know exactly when this property was built, but it has that “new paint / new hotel” feel that immediately sets it apart. Check-in was smooth and typical for using the Marriott app. The overall footprint and layout were also different than what I’m used to—in a good way. The lobby has plenty of open seating, the hallways felt noticeably wider, and the whole property came across fresh, bright, and more open than the average SpringHill/Fairfield experience. The room was the standout. They did not skimp on space or power outlets. One of my biggest complaints with older hotels is having nowhere convenient to plug things in, and this room had outlets and USB ports everywhere—finally. The room also had two TVs separated by a floor-to-ceiling divider (not a full wall, but it helps define the space), and a non-cloth couch that I actually felt comfortable sitting on. From a security standpoint, the privacy latch on the door needs attention—it was bent back enough to be mostly pointless. The bathroom itself was pristine, but the shower design was a little awkward. The setup seems intended to keep the tile floor dry, but the temperature control is positioned where the door swings, and the shower head doesn’t swivel much—so avoiding water on the floor takes extra effort. This was also a stay where we actually made it down for breakfast, and it was better than expected. The breakfast spread was robust and the staff was on top of everything. There was more than enough space to accommodate everybody that made it down without it feeling like a crowded cafeteria. Location-wise, it’s technically close enough that Town Center could be walkable, but realistically you’re better off taking an Uber/Lyft. We checked in late, and Chicho’s Pizza was still open, which was clutch.”
